Membership - American Sail Training Association

Piscataqua Maritime Commission

The PMC is a non-profit community organization dedicated to promoting awareness and education of the New Hampshire seacoast’s rich maritime history through Tall Ship port calls. Proceeds from ship tours and marketing fund a variety of sail training scholarships for area students and other educational programs. Ships visit for at least a three day weekend anytime between April and October.

With over two decades of experience successfully hosting tall ships annually, the PMC Board and hundreds of PMC members and volunteers make a port call not only a regional event for residents, but also the ship, captain, and crew. Vessels are berthed with the enthusiastic support of the NH Dept. of Ports and Harbors, at docks with full facilities and 24 hour security. Ships dock in Portsmouth’s historic 17th century downtown. History, geography and easy transportation combine to make scenic Portsmouth a world famous tourist mecca - amenities, tours, shops, museums, recreational activities, restaurants and beaches are at hand.

The PMC encourages tall ships whose course takes them near New England to contact us to discuss a visit - and discover why captains recommend Portsmouth as “one of their best port calls ever”.
