Channel Islands Harbor Department
The Channel Islands Harbor, owned by the County of Ventura, is located 60 miles north of Los Angeles, halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The harbor is best known for it's year round events and gateway to a wilderness playground, the Channel Islands National Park. Called the "gateway" to the Channel Islands because of its proximity, the harbor is the perfect location from which to take day or extended trips. Located in a picturesque setting, the harbor is home to nine full-service marinas with more than 2,600 boat slips, three nautically themed shopping centers, yacht clubs, more than a dozen restaurants with spectacular views, a year round water taxi , a weekly Farmers' Market, a waterfront hotel and a variety of shops and services. The harbor is home to one of the country's finest maritime collections housed at the Ventura County Maritime Museum located at Fisherman's Wharf. The museum is a cultural center dedicated to the interpretation of maritime history through interactive exhibits and educational outreach.
The Channel Islands hosts several annual events including Celebration of the Whales, Fireworks by the Sea, Concerts by the Sea, Ventura County Boat Show, Ventura Vintage Rods Harbor Run, Channel Islands Harbor Seafood Festival and Parade of Lights.
The Channel Islands Harbor was proud to become a host port for the ASTA TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Race Series in 2005.
