Sail Martha's Vineyard
Sail Martha’s Vineyard is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and protecting the maritime heritage of Martha’s Vineyard Island. We offer a variety of programs in support of our mission to include: (i) offering free sailing instruction to Island children from the ages of 8 to 18, (ii) promoting Martha’s Vineyard’s harbors as welcoming and supportive locations for visiting vessels of all descriptions from foreign sail training ships to local working boats, (iii) offering Masters Licensing courses, launch tenders licensing courses, courses in navigation, diesel engine maintenance and repair. 2008 will see the results of our renewed commitment to attract and support historic visiting vessels.
Although we are not in a position to compensate visiting vessels, we can coordinate local media attention, promote on board opportunities and activities, arrange for dockage at little or no cost for historic vessels in exchange for giving Sail Martha’s Vineyard’s children the opportunity to be on board for a sail, provide access to chandlery services, and support the ship and her crew in any way possible.
