The “Hospitality Port” of the Great Lakes
N.42 deg. 37’ 09.43” W 82 deg 31’ 45.50”
Algonac is on the St. Clair River between Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron. Our museum is located in the Waterfront Park that features more than 2200 feet of riverside boardwalk.
Tall ships have enjoyed our Hospitality Port with sufficient water depth, easy docking and convenience of stores within walking distance. We can arrange fueling, pump outs, fresh water, land showers, boat repair, transportation. A Port of Entry is located next to the museum.
In 2001 we hosted 17 tall ships at our boardwalk at one time as part of the American Sail Training Association’s Great Lakes TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Race Series. We have welcomed the Bluenose II, Picton Castle, Niagara, Pride of Baltimore II, Europa, Nina, Coast Guard Cutters and many others. If dock side tours or day cruising are available, we will advertise and sell tickets. Some ships have stopped in for a quick trip to the grocery store or a Dairy Queen across the street, changing of crewmembers, or passengers, or a safe haven for inclement weather.
