Tall Ship Semester For Girls

TSEA combines an exciting curriculum with the challenges of living at sea and learning to sail. Our students have sailed within San Francisco Bay, along the coast of Baja, and through the Caribbean while developing life skills and engaging in studies that earn them high school credit. TSEA is a special project of the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies and the College of Health and Human Services at San Francisco State University.

Our cornerstone program, the Tall Ship Semester for Girls is an innovative high school program that combines a strong academic curriculum with experiential learning. The semester breaks into three six week phases: first, students attend academic classes in our classroom on the San Francisco State University campus. Second, students sail aboard a traditionally rigged sailing vessel and visit foreign countries and third, students participate in internships in San Francisco businesses.

In addition to the semester program, we offer other sail training experiences for youth of all ages. For current offerings, please visit our website.
