This position begins Oct. 2015. The mate assists the captain in sailing and maintaining a classic 1932 schooner. Brilliant is owned and operated by Mystic Seaport Museum and is a certified and inspected passenger vessel that has been engaged in sail training and education since 1954. Candidates should have sailing experience, a good attitude and enjoy working closely with students of all ages. A coast guard license, first aid training, and shipboard skills such as painting and cooking are helpful. This position is a full-time, year round role broken into 6 months of maintenance and 6 months of sailing.
