Mate: We're seeking a Mate for Aquidneck, our 80' schooner which offers daily public sails and private charters from May-October in legendary Newport, RI. Mates should either hold a minimum of a 50 ton aux sail license with aux sail endorsement (100 ton preferred) or have enough sea time and be interested in getting a license. Depending on interest, skills and ability to develop sailing and ship handling skills, mates will be considered and trained for future captain or relief work. Experience on similarly sized and rigged vessels required. Experience in the daysail industry a plus. Mates should be physically fit, able to sail all day long and all day strong, well-spoken, thoroughly enjoy working with the public, be positive, enthusiastic and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow crew. Being personable is a large part of the job. Mates share all maintenance tasks with crew. Sailing season is May through October. Additional work available pre and post sailing season.

Prior experience in hospitality, bartending, theater etc. a plus. Crew should be physically fit and need the strength and stamina to sail all day long, all day strong and should enjoy the camaraderie of fellow crew. Crew share in all maintenance and cleaning chores and play an active role in sailing the boat. Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Ideally we prefer crew who can commit to our entire sailing season. Pay with tips ranges ranges from $500 to $1000+/week, combined with a terrific learning experience in a fun environment. Not a liveaboard position however housing is easy to find.
