Candidates must be dedicated to onboard education of students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Educational programs include day trips in spring and fall and 9-day programs (sailing/camping) away from Baltimore during the summer. Winter work includes vessel maintenance working with small crew and Fleet Captain. Prior command preferred. USCG 100 ton Inland license with aux sail required. Competitive salary. Benefits.

A passion for the Hudson River, music and the environment are also essential. The relief captain will have onboard responsibilities (with limited administrative duties). Four Winds Westward Ho owns the 61' yawl Carlyn. A centerpiece of the Carlyn Program is a 20 day trip with 14-16 year old campers to Princess Louisa Inlet in British Columbia. Critical to the success of our programs aboard Carlyn is our First Mate. (Please note that this position is a half-summer position, and the Mate we're seeking will only be assisting on the Canada trip). Dates are July 19-August 19 2014. As the First Mate, you'll assist in planning our program, maintaining the boat, and counseling youngsters while on the water. You'll work with a USCG licensed skipper and deck hand on multi-day trips with 12 young sailors, ages 9-16. Naturally, you're great with kids! The successful candidate will have documented big boat experience, experience with outboards, possess a valid passport, and be at least 18 years of age. He/she will hold USCG 50 ton masters license or greater, and current sail endorsement.
