Sailing and/or musical experience is not required but is a big plus and applicants must be willing to live onboard a ship that sails on the Hudson River. Education experience is a plus. Strong electrical skills strongly recommended for 2018 season. This is a paid position, with room and board provided aboard the AJ Meerwald. We are a family run business and we are looking for a few deck hands to start working mid to late March getting the Woodwinds ready for launch and to start our sailing season. Season runs through October 31. We will be hiring for deckhands to also start in April and another few to start in early May. We sail up to 4 times a day, doing public cruises, private events, team building sails, Wednesday night racing, and lots of other fun specialty cruises from Annapolis, MD. Some sailing experience is required. Must be enthusiastic and willing to work 3-4 days a week on 12 hour shifts. Great tips, fun people, lots of sailing time, no deck tours- all sailing. These two, identical 74-foot schooners were made for sailing in the lighter breezes on the Chesapeake and they sail super well. We have won many Schooner Races, so come join our team and "family"! This is not a live aboard position.

Schooner BRILLIANT sails with adults on 1- to 5-day trips in the spring and fall, and with teens on 5- or 10-day trips during the summer. BRILLIANT participates in classic yacht racing, cruising, and educational programs. The crew consists of the captain and mate year round, and a cook during the summer teen programs, in addition to up to 12 students or passengers. During the off-season, the mate works to perform all needed maintenance on the vessel, including annual haul out. Although not required, preference is given to applicants with a minimum of USCG 100 ton near coastal mate license, medical training, and racing experience. Ongoing clean drug test results are required.

Geronimo is a modern sailing school vessel that runs 1 - 6 week voyages with high school students. STCW is required for all mate positions and a 100ton NC is the minimum requirement for chief mate. Salary starts at 2,500 a month and depends on experience and licensing. Geronimo is a blue water vessel that regularly sails the Caribbean and Canadian Maritimes.
