Pride of Baltimore, Inc. is seeking to fill Ship Officer Positions for the 2015 Sailing Season. 1st Mate, 2nd Mate, Bosun (watch leader), Engineer/Deckhand, Cook. Rig-Up is scheduled to start mid-May to ready the ship for the 2015 sailing season to start at the end of June in time for the Fourth of July kick-off. All interested applicants must be U.S Citizens and either be prepared to prove being drug free, as per USCG regulations, or meet the regulations for being qualified as drug free. Prior traditional working sail vessel experience is required. USCG certification required for 1st Mate & 2nd Mate (at least 100 GRT Auxiliary Sail). The South Street Seaport Museum is seeking a 3rd Mate/Engineer on the schooner Lettie G. Howard beginning in April 2015. Minimum qualifications include the ability to stand a navigational watch, and coordinate trainees for deck operations such as: sail handling maneuvers, vessel maintenance, and education programs. Working knowledge of diesel engines, plumbing and electrical systems are required. Watch leading experience a plus. A sincere desire to work with youth is a must. Applicants need one or more years of supervisory experience on traditional rigged sailing vessels. The Lettie G Howard is a restored 125 ft. Gloucester fishing schooner certified as a SSV. During the ’15 season, which runs from April through October, Lettie will operate on the waters of NY harbor, LI Sound, New England and the East Coast. Programs range from port visits, day sails, and week-long programming. The post is Seasonal; pay is commensurate with experience.
