The AJ Meerwald is a restored 1928 Delaware Bay oyster schooner that conducts educational programs, charters, and public sails in various ports in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the Chesapeake Bay. Responsibilities of a Deckhand/Educator Intern include participating on onboard and shore-based programming and participating in vessel maintenance and operations. A strong environmental ethic, plenty of stamina, flexibility, and a positive attitude are required. Environmental education experience and experience working aboard a traditionally rigged sailing vessel are a plus. This is a paid position, with room and board provided aboard the AJ Meerwald. Interns serve for a 2-3 month period during the sailing season, with current openings running through November.
